The enery tax creadit is back, however the new tax credit law calls for more stringent standards on the windows. Currently The window must have a U factor <= .30 AND the Solar Heat Gain Coefficent (SHGC) <=.30. While most manufactures U vaules are within the tax credit spec, most SHGC specs are not. For example, under the old tax creadit the Gorell AC master glass qualified for the tax creadit since the SHGC number was not specified. Now with a SHGC <=.30 you must opt for at least the energy master III triple pane glass to qualify for this new tax creadit. The Winstrom 800 series double pane low-e/argon glass pack and The Armaclad Energy Gurad Plus 2 double pane glass do qualify for this credit. You can now deduct up to 10% of the cost, up to $200, for all energy star compliant windows And 10% of the cost, up to $500, for all energy star compliant entry doors.
